This is all just the beginning, and we have a lot more planned for the future of the project. Are SpaceEngine and Universe Sandbox 2 close to being accurate as how it is in real life I am curious about these two tools/game. For instance, the super novas are quite impressive visually. We can now leverage the latest graphics and shader tech to do things like glowing craters, variable water levels, and all manner of eye candy. SPACE ENGINE: YOUR very own scientifically accurate space sim. We even support a large number of integration modes, and the entire system is configurable. As well the base gravity simulation is more stable, accurate, and faster. We now simulate climate on planets, stellar evolution for stars, internal material compositions, water level, material phases, detailed physics of bodies impacting, including cratering, shockwaves, land deformation and surface heating. It has a custom physics engine as well, that allows us to do things like multi-threading and even leverage the power of a GPU if it supports OpenCL. Universe Sandbox ² is completely redone from the ground up in a new game engine (Unity 3D). This game mostly focuses on exploring the various planets rather than playing with how the physics of the world operate. Space Engine is an option for a universe sandbox. It does not exceed expectations, as number 2 completely redid the engine of the game and graphics improved it immensely. It was limited quite a bit by the technology it was built on, and it only worked on certain platforms. Universe Sandbox Legacy is the first entry in the series. The original Universe Sandbox is mostly a gravity simulator, written primarily by Dan.
